Dune Awakening relies on official worlds hosted by Funcom, spread across several global regions to reduce latency. Each world holds thousands of players, split into instances: the Hagga Basin in PvE, social hubs, and the shared Deep Desert. Self-hosted servers, announced in April 2026, are in a testing phase with still-limited options: harvest rates, building limits and decay.

The Hagga Basin is mostly PvE: you explore, harvest and build safely, outside a few contested zones. The Deep Desert, meanwhile, concentrates the rare resources and now offers separate PvE and PvP instances. PvP there stays optional, with mining and spice yields heavily boosted to make up for the risk.
