Frequently asked questions about Mordhau servers

Everything you need to know before joining a server

A Mordhau server is an online-hosted match that brings together up to 80 players in medieval melee combat. Each server applies its own settings, map, game mode and rules, offering fights with swords, axes or bows in a community atmosphere.

From Mordhau's main menu, open the server browser, filter by mode, region or latency, then click Join. You can also go through the Top-Games list, spot a server you like and launch the game directly to connect in a matter of seconds.

Servers offer Invasion, the flagship objective attack-and-defence mode, Frontline, the large-scale battle, Duel for one-on-one fights, and Horde where you survive waves of enemies. You also come across Deathmatch and custom servers dedicated to training or roleplay. Battle Royale, removed from official matchmaking, only lives on through a handful of community servers.

Yes, Mordhau is a paid game that you must own on Steam to join a PC server. Once purchased, access to every official and community server is included, with no extra subscription, and the title is regularly discounted on Steam. Note that the console version (PlayStation and Xbox), released in 2023, is separate: its servers are not shared with PC.

Official servers are run by Mordhau's developers with standard settings and automated moderation. Community servers, hosted by players, offer custom rules, mods, exclusive maps and human moderation. The latter often build tighter-knit communities and a unique atmosphere.
